    Thursday, September 23rd 2021:

    -IMPORTANT!!  As recommended by the St. Charles County Department of Public Health: If a member of a student's household has been tested for Covid-19 and is awaiting test results, all students in the household should stay home from school that day.  In any case, families should contact school in order to report the absence and obtain any login information necessary.

    ***If you go to Tech, CAPS, or SAMS and want to attend Friday's Homecoming assembly and/or parade, make sure to get permission from your teachers/administrator there BEFORE Friday.  Be sure to check Friday's Homecoming schedule to see if you need/want to do this.***

    -Renaissance will be recognizing SCW students who display specific character traits for Student of the Month.  The character trait for September is a positive mindset. 

    -Are you ready for some football?  Come out to Stahl Stadium TODAY, Thursday, Sept. 23, and root on the girls of your class as they play Powder Puff!  Freshmen will play Sophomores at 7 p.m. and Juniors will play Seniors at 8 p.m.  The cost is $3 or 4 people for $10. ***With paid admission - PTO will provide each SCW student a free Hot Dog or Pretzel, Drink & Chips.***

    -HOCO21 is right around the corner!  Come "Move with the Music" at the Homecoming Dance on Sat., Sept. 25th.  The dance will be held at the Steve Stahl Football Stadium from 7-10 PM and all students must arrive that night by 7:30 PM.  Tickets cost $15.  All tickets must be purchased by 3 PM TOMORROW, Friday, Sept. 24th.  No tickets will be sold the day of the dance.  You can purchase your ticket(s) in the Main Office before and after school and during lunch from the Finance Secretary Mrs. Meyer.  All fees/fines must be paid prior to purchasing your tickets! Any student wanting to bring an outside guest should pick up a Dance Guest Form in the Main Office and have it completed before purchasing tickets.  Self-health checks, temperature scans, masks, and social distancing may be enforced as necessary per district protocols.  

    -Attention SCW students: Don't miss your chance to be the Grand Marshall of this year's Homecoming Parade TOMORROW, Friday, Sept. 24th! The Grand Marshall is the parade VIP and will get to ride with Officer Keele in the police escort leading the parade.  By participating in Homecoming spirit days next week, you will earn tickets that will place you in a drawing for Grand Marshall.  The lucky winning ticket will be drawn during the Homecoming assembly on Friday, Sept. 24th.  So be sure to participate in Homecoming spirit days and get your ticket each day at lunch next week.  Then you can be the HOCO21 Parade Grand Marshall! 

    -Attention all SCW students: Picture Retake Day is scheduled for Friday, October 8th. *If you are taking makeup photos (you didn’t get your photo taken over the summer) you will receive a pass with your excused time during AIP some time before 10/8.  *If you are getting retake photos (you didn’t like the photos taken over the summer AND you purchased a packet.) We will have a dismissal time provided for those people. You will NOT be able to retake your photo if you didn’t purchase a packet. YOU MUST BRING THE ORIGINAL PACKET WITH YOU ON RETAKE DAY!!  Please see Mrs. Bildner in H110 if you have any questions.

    -Attention all SCW students: You can now use either your 6 digit meal pin # OR your lunch card at all checkout lanes. If you do not know your 6 digit meal pin #, you can log into the Portal, click the menu (3 lines at the top left), scroll down and click “Meal Service” and your meal pin will be at the top. If your pin shows ******, you can click the eye for your pin to show up. If you have any questions, stop by the Main Office. 

    -Attention all SCW/SCHS traveling students: If you are a student that leaves or enters our building during the school day for CAPS, SCHS, SAMS or work release, you will need to sign in/out in the Attendance Office on one of the 3 Chromebooks near the front door.  Any questions, please talk to Mrs. Arns in the Attendance Office. 

    -Attention all SCW students: If you have a vacation planned during the school year, you will need to stop by the Attendance Office to get a vacation form from Mrs. Arns. This form requires signatures from all of your teachers and your principal, so please plan accordingly.

    -Attention all Junior and Senior students: If you plan to visit a college during school hours please stop by the Attendance Office and get a college visit form from Mrs. Arns. This form should be turned in to the Attendance Office 2 days prior to your college visit AND requires signatures from all of your teachers and your principal, so please plan accordingly.

    -SCW Students:  NO OUTSIDE FOOD IS ALLOWED @ SCW. Please do not have outside food (fast food, etc.) delivered/dropped off as it will be turned away regardless of circumstances. If you do forget your lunch, the district is providing free meal options.  

    Club News

    -Art Club: Art Club is back at its regular times of Monday and Tuesday 2:30-3:30pm in room H108. We're kicking off the year with creating a Homecoming float, come join us!

    -Dungeons and Dragons Club: Dungeons & Dragons club meets on Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30pm in Ms. Joseph's room, B117.

    -HEY SCW: Please make note of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) meeting date/time change! Meeting during AIP on B-Day Tuesday's! We are looking for a few amazing students who would like to participate in competitive business events against students from the area. Not only does FBLA membership look AMAZING on college applications, but if you enjoy any business topic...why not show others what a BOSS you really are in competition. Please don't let competing stress you out as MANY events are done online in the privacy of a classroom all by yourself. We are a low-stress, high caliber group of students. Come see what it's all about. Next meeting is Tuesday, September 28!

    -Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA): We meet EVERY Friday at 6:30 am in room J129. We welcome everyone to join us for weekly pancakes, games, discussions about faith and sports, and prayer.

    -GEC (Game Enthusiasts Club): We will not meet TODAY (9/23) due to Homecoming preparations.  We will be back to games next Thursday.

    -GSA (Saint Charles West Gender Sexuality Alliance): We will meet on Monday’s from 2:30-3:30 in room A105.

    -NHS: NHS will be collecting donations and supplies for STL Refugees. Be on the lookout for more information regarding our first fundraiser! 

    -NHS members: Dues are $10. Please return to Howard or Lavezzi-Becker by Sept. 30th.

    -StuCo: There will be no StuCo meeting TODAY due to Homecoming preparations. Thanks for all the help planning thus far!  See you all next week.

    Classroom News

    ***SCW Students: The Learning Lab is available to all students who would like to test in a smaller, quiet location. It is located in the Library Classroom. If you would like to use the Lab during a test, complete this Google Form at least 15 minutes PRIOR to your test time. The Learning Lab is CLOSED during 1st lunch.*** 

    ***SCW Students: Add the SCW Library Google Classroom (join code: cosh32v) for access to research resources, video tutorials, and database passwords for at home use.  Through the classroom, you can get help for the electronic resources available 24/7.  Email or see Ms. Gates during AIP if you need additional help.***

    ***Students at SCW are not encouraged to bring cell phones or other electronic devices to school.  If students choose to bring such items, they should be turned off and securely stored out of sight during the school day.  Cell phones may be used before school, after school, during passing periods and at lunch only.***

    ***Any student who thinks they may need a tutor, don't delay your success!  Stay ahead of the game and sign up with your counselor for a tutor today!***

    Guidance News

    ***Did you order a class t-shirt?? Unfortunately, there has been a shipping delay due to Hurricane Ida. We are hoping they arrive soon but the delay is beyond our control so please be patient.***

    -Attention Juniors and Sophomores: If you'd like to sign up for the PSAT test, please see Mrs. Ward in Guidance. The PSAT standardized test is a preliminary SAT test and will be administered on Wednesday, October 13th at 7:30 am in the Auxiliary Gym.  The cost is $20. 

    Why take the PSAT?

    • Juniors who take the PSAT have the opportunity to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. 
    • It's good practice for the SAT and other standardized tests.
    • Increase your chances of earning a better SAT score. 
    • Identify areas of strengths and weaknesses and guide your future test preps. 

    The PSAT $20 fee can be paid to Mrs. Ward via cash or check,  at which time students will receive the PSAT student guide and practice booklets. 

    The PSAT fee can also be paid online via Revtrak, however, students must first sign up in Guidance with Mrs. Ward, and once the payment is received, students will receive the PSAT student guide and practice booklets.

    -MAC Scholars Fall ACT Prep Sessions: Students who signed up for the MAC Scholars ACT Prep Sessions should meet in Computer Lab A on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 pm. The dates for the ACT Prep sessions are as follows:

    October 12 & 14

    -Multicultural Achievement Council: The MAC Scholars will host "College Admissions 101"  a workshop series consisting of four sessions that will review the various parts of the college process.  They will be held during AIP in Computer Lab A on the following Mondays:  September 27th, October 4th, October 11th, and  October 18th.

    This is open to all grade levels but geared towards juniors and seniors. Please click on the link below and register for the workshop sessions that you would like to attend.
