Hardin names Loretta Smith as Assistant Principal

The City of St. Charles School District is excited to announce that Loretta Smith has been selected to serve as the Hardin Middle assistant principal, effective July 1, 2022. The District’s Board of Education approved the selection at its March 10, 2022 meeting.

Smith currently serves as an ELA teacher in the Parkway School District, a position she has held since 2015. She also serves as the Parkway South Middle School 6-8 grade English Department Chair. Prior to her current position, Smith worked in the private sector before seeking employment in public education.

“I'm very excited for this new opportunity to serve the St. Charles community,” Smith said. “The middle school grades are such formative years and being able to help lead and guide students during that time is a responsibility I welcome.”

Smith holds two degrees: a Master of Science in Education Leadership from Northwest State Missouri University, and a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Clayton State University.

“We are very excited to welcome Loretta to the St. Charles School District family,” said Dr. Jason Sefrit, superintendent of schools. “We believe that her experience as a middle school teacher and department leader makes her the perfect person for this job.”

Smith will be replacing Brett Kobernus, who accepted the role of Success Campus director at the January Board of Education meeting.
