  • From MVP's to Golden Hawks, below you will find answers to commonly asked questions about what Harris Elementary does to support students using PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support). This system is used to help encourage students to make positive choices about their behavior.
     
    Q: What is an MVP?
    A: An MVP (Most Valuable Player) is when a staff member observes your child being safe, respectful, and responsible. Every staff member has MVP's to hand out to any student who demonstrates All Star Behavior (being a role model in line, waiting quietly for the teacher, helping a friend, using kind words, using the equipment safely and correctly. The list goes on and on...) Once your child receives an MVP, they bring it to counselor's office and put it in her mailbox outside her office. Then, she collects and sorts from the 100's of MVP's collected to be announced daily to weekly for winners of an award. These are the ones you will see at home. They have a check mart on them and an award attached. Every child will be drawn at least one time a trimester.
     
     Q: What is a Golden Hawk Class?
    A: A Golden Hawk Class is a class that demonstrates as a group how to be Safe, Respectful, and Responsible in their classroom and throughout the building. A class is nominated by a Mystery Monitor. Each week a new Mystery Monitor is picked to watch for the Golden Hawk Class. Typically on Fridays, the counselor announces the new Golden Hawk Class. Then the previous winner brings the Golden Hawk statue to the next class with a certificate to be posted outside the classroom.
